5 Movies To Look Out For In 2017

2016 is nearly over, so as we near 2017, here’s a list of five movies that you definitely need to see next year. I’ve missed out obvious films such as superhero movies Justice LeagueGuardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 and Spiderman: Homecoming as well as other franchise movies such as War for the Planet of the ApesTransformers, Pirates of the Caribbean and Fast 8. Instead I’ve tried to find movies you may have seen glimpses of but know nothing about. So lets get started:

5. Get Out (24th February 2017 – USA)

Starring: Daniel Kaluuya, Bradley Whitford, Allison Williams, Betty Gabriel, Keith Stanfield

After Rose invites her boyfriend Chris for a weekend getaway upstate with her parents,  Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship. But as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined.

4. Kong: Skull Island (10th March 2017 – USA)

Starring: Samuel L Jackson, Tom Hiddleston, John Goodman, John C Reilly, Brie Larson

A team of explorers is brought together to venture deep into an uncharted island in the Pacific—as beautiful as it is treacherous—unaware that they are crossing into the domain of the mythical giant gorilla known as Kong. First Godzilla was rebooted in 2014 and now its the turn of King Kong who is about ten times bigger than he was in his 2005 outing. We all know this is leading up to a battle between the two monsters but this origin story for King Kong is looking like a very exciting build up.

3. Sleepless (24th Febuary 2017 – USA)

Starring: Jamie Foxx, Gabrielle Union, T.I, Michelle Monaghan, Lloyd Banks

This film is a remake of a french thriller and stars Jamie Foxx as an undercover Las Vegas police officer who has a race against time to save his kidnapped son from a crew of murderous gangsters after he and his partner are caught stealing cocaine from a powerful drug lord. Referred to as “the black mans Taken” on Twitter, lets hope that this lives up to expectations, unlike Liam Neesons “Taken” sequels.

2. Life (24th May 2017 – USA)

Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Reynolds, Rebecca Ferguson, Ariyon Bakare,

The six-member crew of the International Space Station is tasked with studying a sample from Mars that may be the first proof of extra-terrestrial life, but which proves to be more intelligent than expected. Jake Gyllenhaal is one of my favourite actors and has chosen his projects carefully in recent years so you’re unlikely to be disappointed, and more often than not, Ryan Reynolds’ movies are quite entertaining.

1. Split (20th January 2017)

Starring: James McAvoy, Haley Lu Richardson, Anya Taylor-Joy

Kevin, a man with 23 different personalities is compelled to abduct three teenage girls. Haunted by their predicament and their efforts to escape the volatile Kevin, they begin to meet all of his 23 personalities, each with its own unpredictable characteristic. From a little boy to a sophisticated woman, the nightmare truly begins when Kevin’s 24th and final personality – “The Beast” – begins to emerge as a humanoid murderous creature. Brought to you by the famous M. Night Shyamalan, the man behind Stuart Little, The Visit and Wayward Pines, I’m not going to say anything more than watch the trailer…
